Irene A. (Hoffay) MacRoberts, 86, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home Friday, March 22 surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Amsterdam in 1937, she spent the majority of her adult life in Troy. Most of her career was spent working for NYS Dept. of Retirement, where she finally retired after 33 years. Irene was a lifelong member of the Mt View Fire Dept. as well as their Women's Auxiliary and Bingo Committee. She enjoyed reading and relaxing on her front porch talking to neighbors.
She was the daughter to the late Edward and Josephine Hoffay and wife to the late James E. MacRoberts. Irene is survived by her children, Patricia (James) Brennan, Denice (late William) Quandt, Sean (Candace) Brennan, Rian (fiancée Constance) Brennan and Shelley (Lee) Marshall; along with siblings, Grace (Larry) Bringingood and Thomas (Diane) Hoffay.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd Street, Troy on Sunday, March 24 from 1-4 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Rensselaer, Mt. View Fire Dept. or Alzheimer's Association. Interment will be held at a later date.
