Charles Mamone Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Angelo Mamone, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away in Troy, NY on November 24th, 2025. He joins his late wife, Barbara Ann Mamone, and late daughter, Elise Ann Mamone, in heaven.

Born in South Troy, NY, Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran, lifelong entrepreneur and businessman. Alongside his devoted wife, he owned and operated Barley's Surfside Market and Deli in Hampton Beach, and later BA's Uptown Deli and Lunch in Albany, NY. Known for his hard work, warmth, and generosity, Charlie touched the lives of countless customers, neighbors, and friends.

Charlie was a rare find. A man not of his time. Charlie was a progressive human, one who led by example. He was a man of his word, one who worked for everything he had. He was not one to take anything for surface value. Rather, he challenged his family, friends and peers to be better people. He gave so much to those around him, and touched countless lives.

He is survived by his children, Koni Valenti (Gary) and Chuck Mamone (Valerie); his grandchildren, Gary Michael, Emily, Nicholas, Alicia, Connor, Gianna, Juliana, Gennaro Charles, and Ava; and his great-grandson, Brody Charles. Also, his sister, Vicky Hourigan, and his brothers, Vito and Salvatore Mamone. Charles’ role in his family is hard to put into words. A true leader, the glue that held everyone together. In his final year, he handled and managed a family mourning insurmountable loss while still fighting to survive himself. His passing marks the close of a hard time for his family. He will be deeply missed as he is now once again with his girls.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church in Troy, NY on Monday, December 1st. The viewing will be from 9-11am, followed immediately by mass to celebrate Charlie’s life. From there, he’ll be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlie’s name to the ALS Association, a cause close to his heart.

Charlie’s legacy of love, strength, and commitment to his loved ones will live on in all who knew him.
