Chester T. Szalasny Jr. 74 of Cohoes and formerly of Troy passed into eternal rest on Saturday November 11, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, surrounded by his loving family.
Chester was born in Troy and was the son of the late Chester T. Szalasny Sr and Louise Stellato Szalasny and loving husband of Veronica Halligan Szalasny of Cohoes.
Chester proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during Vietnam, upon coming home he was employed with the Troy News Company and later with Premier Transportation in Albany. He was a member of the American Legion Cohoes and a former member of the Polish American Club, Troy and the American Legion Wynantskill.
Chester along with his wife enjoyed traveling and their yearly trips to Florida, he also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his greatest accomplishment in life was his son Russell.
In addition to his wife Chester is survived by his son Russell Szalasny of New Jersey and his sister Eleanor “Ellie” Szalasny ( John ) of Troy.
The funeral procession will begin at 8 am Friday morning from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, Troy to Sacred Heart Church where at 8:30 am a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas pastor.
Interment with military honors will follow the mass at The Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
