Agars, Donald M. TROY-
Our adored loving Husband, Father, Pop, Brother, and Uncle, Donald M. Agars, age 63,
passed away suddenly on February 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Donald held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was that of being a father and
grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time and being best friends with his
children Rachael and Christopher and his two granddaughters, Alaina and Addison. He
was a fixture at every one of the softball, basketball or soccer games the girls had or at
his home away from home on Brant Lake; fishing, boating and swimming. Donald was
a graduate from the Troy High School Class of 1978, a retiree of Spectrum after 38
years of service and a founding member of the Frear Park Hackers Golf League.
Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Michele Agars, his two adoring
children, Rachael (Dave) Dean and Christopher (Aimee Favreau) Agars; and his two
cherished granddaughters Alaina and Addison Dean. Don is also survived by his
brothers and sisters, Robert (Jane) Agars Jr., Kathleen (Vincent) Leach, James Agars,
Joanne (Michael) Burns, Beth (Lawrence) Bizzarro, Jeffrey (Susan) Agars and Maureen
(William) Hughes and his brother-in-law, Edward Blair ; along with 20 nieces and
nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents Robert Agars Sr. and Helen Clancy
Agars; and his siblings, Stephen Agars, Marianne (Edward) Blair and Christine (James)
Ring; who left us only 4 short weeks ago.
While Donald left us far too soon, the love of his close-knit relationship with family, his
genuine ability to make others smile and sense of humor will forever be remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the Sacred Heart Church, 310
Spring Ave., Troy on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service for Donald will be held
on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor.
Don’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Troy Fire Department;
especially Engine 3 and Medic 3. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in
Donald’s memory be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude
Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
