Donald Sapone Obituary

Donald L. TROY Donald L. Sapone, 91 of Troy, passed into eternal rest peacefully on October 19, 2022, at The Eddy Heritage House in Troy, with his family by his side. Donald was born in Troy and was the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Prediletto) Sapone. He had been employed at the N.Y.S. Workers Compensation Board for many years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Troy. Donald graduated from the former St. Lawrence's School and Catholic Central High School both in Troy. He enjoyed watching old black and white movies especially Turner Classic movies. He was an avid radio collector and loved collecting old tube radios. He enjoyed listening to old radio programs such as The Shadow and Abbott and Costello. He loved Peanuts comics, but his favorite was Snoopy. Donald is survived by his niece, Nicole Sapone of Easton, N.Y.; his nephew, Matthew (Kris) Sapone, and his three grandnieces, Marina, Elena and Sonia Sapone of Schuylerville, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Nicholas Sapone Jr.; and his former sister-in-law, Madeline A. Sapone (nee Bouchard). The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Burke and the staff at Heritage House for the wonderful care they gave to Don over the past few years. They we truly a blessing to him and his family. The funeral service for Donald will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, State Street in Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 until 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
