Eileen (Green) Scarton

Eileen G. Scarton passed away July 13, 2024 at the age of 81. She was a long-time resident of Troy, NY.

A native of Amsterdam, NY, she was born February 1, 1943 to Dorothy (McGillin) and James M. Green.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute ’60, Marywood College ‘64., and U. of Pittsburgh ’66. She was

a teacher for many years in Amsterdam, Pittsburgh, and Troy, most recently at Sacred Heart School. She

loved all her students and spoke of them often, even decades after teaching them; her first fifth graders

are now seventy! Eileen enjoyed traveling, visiting Great Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, and Ireland.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Henry Scarton, Assoc. Prof. Emeritus, RPI; three children,

James Scarton (Paula), Eileen Scarton (Pablo-dec.), and Kevin Scarton (Kimberly); eight grandchildren,

Nikki Lawhon (Blake), Kelsey Watson, Abigail Lemon, Katherine Scarton, Jack Scarton, Benjamin Súarez-

Scarton, Steven Scarton, and Zoe Scarton; four great-grandchildren: Leah, Adalyn, Henry, and Levi; her

sister, Kathryn Mormile, many nephews, and great-nephews and nieces, and her brother-and-sisters-in-

law Charles & Jeanne Scarton and Maryann Green. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Michael J.

and James C. Green. Eileen was a parishioner of Christ Sun of Justice Catholic Church. She was a

member of the RPI Women’s club for 54 years and also served on the board of the Town of Brunswick

Library. Visiting hours are Thursday, July 18 4:00-7:00 PM at Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third

St., Troy. Mass of Christian Burial to follow Friday, July 19 at 1:00 PM at Christ Sun of Justice Parish

, 2125 Burdett Ave, Troy. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
