Retired Albany NY Detective James Barbuto 77 of Albany, formerly of Troy passed into eternal rest on July 28 ,2023 at The St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jim was born in Troy and was the son of the late James and Helen Pakush Barbuto .He began his employment with the Albany Police Department in 1971 and retired in 1991. .Jim's longtime friend Joy De Lorenzo passed away in 2022. Jim was a longtime fan of the New York Mets and the Detroit Lions football teams. He enjoyed reading books and spending time with Joy. He was a member of the Albany Elks Lodge # 0049. Jim was pre-deceased by his sister Lynn Lazzaro ,he is survived by his nephews Anthony ( Beth ) Lazzaro and Brian ( Nikki ) Lazzaro ,his aunt Betty ( the late James ) Hynes and his two nieces Patti (Lee ) Hess and Kim ( David ) Young and was pre- deceased by his nephew Kevin Hynes .The funeral service for Jim will be held on Friday at 5pm at The Wm. Leahy Funeral home 336 Third St Troy with Deacon Charles Wojton officating .Relatives and friends are invited to attend nad may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 -5 PM
