James Downey

James T. Downey of Troy, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
Born in Troy, Jim was the son of the late John and Lucille Downey (Derocher).
Jim is survived by his children, Treha and Ryan Downey; his granddaughter, Lucille R. DiPietrantonio; and his sister, Karen Coonrad (Downey). He was predeceased by his wife, Robbin Downey(Gardner); and his brothers, Billy and Jack Downey.
Jim was a lifelong Troy resident and worked for the City of Troy Department of Parks and Recreation for over 35 years. Upon his retirement, he also enjoyed working part time as a member of the greens keeping crew at Frear Park Golf Course.
In his free time, Jim was a horseracing enthusiast and longtime visitor to Saratoga Raceway. He was a proud and loving Grandfather to Lucy, who was the light of his life. Jim also found great comfort and joy in his longtime loyal companion, Lambchop. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral service was held private at the convenience of the family.
