James E. Fernet (Load)
A Devoted Father
James E. Fernet, 62, of Troy, NY, passed away suddenly in his home on January 2, 2025. Known to many as Jim, he was a devoted father who adored his daughters and found his greatest joy in their company.
Jim (Load as he was known by many) was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Fernet; his mother, Marilyn Miller; and his brother, Mark Fernet. He is survived by his cherished daughters; Victoria Stein (Timothy Kitchner) and Olivia Fernet, as well as his significant other, Erin Tresca and his brother Gary Fernet.
He was a beloved father whose heart overflowed with love for his daughters. His greatest joy and pride came from the moments spent with them- whether cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, laughing together over Family Feud, or bonding over WWE matches. His unwavering love for Victoria and Olivia was the foundation of his life.
Jim lived a life full of simple joys and passions. He found peace in quieter moments, where he could be found playing solitaire or embracing the freedom of the open road on his Harley motorcycle.
He also had a deep love for animals and shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Rocky, and his six cherished cats. They brought him comfort, companionship, and countless moments of joy, and he cared for them with the same devotion he gave to everyone he loved.
Jim's love and devotion to his daughters will echo in their hearts forever. His legacy lives on in the memories of laughter, love, and the lessons he imparted. His spirit will forever ride alongside those he held dear.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd St., Troy, NY.
