Janet (Romano) Hems

Janet (Romano) Hems, 79, of Troy, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday April 30th. A life-long resident of Troy and Lansingburgh, Janet was a neighbor and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time in the Adirondacks and was always ready for a weekend getaway. She also loved music and dancing, especially to her favorite artist, Elvis. Janet was deeply devoted to her family and loved ones, and will be missed dearly by many. 

Janet is predeceased by her parents, Mildred and Frank Romano Sr.; brothers, Frank Romano Jr. and Richard “Dickie” Romano; and niece Kristin Romano. 

Janet is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John “Jack” Hems; beloved son Steven Romano; sisters, Sue (Ron) Higgs; Barbara Goodman; Lori Mitsakas; and Carole (Tom) Hoffmeister; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

On Wednesday, May 6th relatives and friends of Janet are invited to spend time with her family between the hours of 4-7 PM at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street Troy, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 10 am in the funeral home with Deacon Charles Wojton officiating Internment following at Oakwood Cemetery.
