John Gully Obituary

John Vincent Gully, 84, passed away into eternal life Wednesday evening January 29, 2025 at home peacefully with his loved ones surrounding him from a courages battle with dementia He was born in Troy on August 12, 1940. He was the son of the late Peter and Angelina Gully. He married the love of his life Carole Giesin in 1968  and they were married for 56 years. 

He was raised in South Troy and moved to  Wynantskill in 1973. He graduated from LaSalle Institute in 1958. 

He worked for the state in the Tax and Finance department for 36 years and retired in 1996. He was very involved in his local CSEA union throughout his career.

He loved to travel to different baseball card shows as he was an avid baseball card collector. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and NY Giants. 

He was the life of the party and always enjoyed a good time. He loved his family and would do anything to help his family out. He was supportive of all the avenues we took.

He is survived by and was the proud father of John (Cheri), Nicole and Denise (Keith) Boniface. He is also survived by his many sister in laws and nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was the proud Poppy of his granddaughters Riley, Bayley, Angelina and Alessia and his four legged grand-pup Kooper Boniface.

He was predeceased by his brother Nicholas Gulli along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

The family wants to give a special thanks to hospice especially Grace, Steve, Laurie, Michelle and John for the special work they do and loving support they give to families walking through the end of life journey. 

We want to extend our gratitude to our special angel Rohan who cared for our dad with the most unconditional compassion, love and support  during our dad’s journey. We will always love him for the special bond he had with our dad and the kindness and warmth he gave our family. 

To our family friend Tina G. who helped at a moments notice. We are beyond grateful for her and her support. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association or to our local hospice in memory of him.
