We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joseph A. Farron Sr., 73, of Troy, on October 31, 2023, after more than a year of battling cancer. He fought hard all the way to the end and we cherished all the time we had with him and only wish we had more.
Joe was the son of the late Bernard and Julia D'Alessio Farron. He was a loving husband to Phyllis Hayes, his wife of 52 years; father of Tera (Lou) Graiff, and Joe (Jenn) Farron; and "Pa" to Molly and Jesse Graiff, and Kaitlyn and Sydney Farron. He is also survived by his sister, Bernadette Donahue, and several nieces and nephews.
Joe lived in Troy all his life, attending C.C.H.S. and H.V.C.C., and embraced the "South Troy Against the World" motto. He spent his 35-year career as an employee in the N.Y.S. Dept. of Education. His interests included camping, cruises, cars, bargain hunting, bragging about his grandkids, and being a member of the Watervliet Elks.
The funeral service for Joe will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 28 State St., Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated (report directly to church). Relatives and friends may call at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy on Tuesday, November 7, from 4-7 p.m. Interment will occur at a later date at the convenience of the family.
At Joe's request, please no flowers. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Road Albany, NY, 12205 or Kelly's Angels, Inc., P.O. Box 2034 Wilton, NY, 12831.
