Karen Bisceglia, 74, of Troy, NY passed away surrounded by her daughters at home in Troy on October 9th.
She was born on September 24, 1949 in Troy, NY to Joseph and Katherine (O'Brien) Moulton and was lovingly raised in her beloved South Troy.
Karen graduated from St. Joseph's School, Catholic Central High School, D'Youville College and earned her Master's Degree at SUNY Albany.
She became an elementary school teacher at Wynantskill Union Free School District right out of college and taught 4th, 1st and 3rd grades for over 30 years before retiring in 2007. Every student of hers felt as though they were her favorite; even years later when many former students became her daughters' great friends. Karen never missed a sporting event for her daughters and was always driving her girls and their friends to various outings. One always knew her by her crazy, loud contagious laugh. If you ended up at her house she would most likely feed you and measure you on the kitchen wall. She became a "Nan" in 2010 and her new profession/obsession ensued with her grandsons for the next 13 years.
She is predeceased by her parents, Joe and Kay Moulton, her brother Brian and sister-in-law Debbie, and her husband, Vincent Bisceglia. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristin Smith (Mark), Meghan Bisceglia (Chad Corbett), grandsons Grady and Callen Smith, niece Kelly Honsinger and nephew Brian (Carey) Moulton. She will be missed by many cousins, as well as beloved extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
Karen's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses of NYOH, Dana Farber and Community Hospice.
At Karen's request, there will be no services. The family will be having a memorial celebration of her life on November 17th, 2023 at 9am at St. Joseph's Church in South Troy.
