Karen E. Smith

Karen E. Smith was born in 1950 in Troy, NY, and spent her entire life in the area.  Karen a devoted daughter, and sister, has rejoined her mother Beverly, father Lyle, and sister Carol (Reed), in heaven.  A retiree from the NYSIF, she was a compassionate soul who cared for her parents and sister in their twilight days.  
She is survived by her brother Ricky, her aunt Bobbie (Frank) and her family, her two children Michael (Kimmie) and Jennifer (Daniel), four grandchildren Christopher (Kennedy), Quinton (Molly), Nicholas, and Drakar,  her two great-grandchildren Emma-Payson and Sebastian, her brother-in-law Lance, three nephews Phillip (Temple), Jeffrey (Alesis), Will (Courtney), 4 grand-children Renee, Jesse, Macauley, and Beckham, along with many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude in her honor.   
The viewing will be on Thursday, October 13th from 4pm-7pm at the William Leahy Funeral Home 336 3rd Street, Troy.  Interment will follow Friday at 10am at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tibbits  Avenue, Troy.

Dear Lord, relying on your promises to us,

I turn to you in trust that my mother is

with you and that she is enjoying your

loving embrace. You alone know how she

loved the best she could and how she faithfully

endured the struggles that she faced. You know the graces

you gave her and you know the grace she was for me

and for so many. For all the ways she truly loved the way

you loved her, please reward her, Lord. May she enjoy

the communion of all her family and friends who are with you.

Lord, I know my mother still loves us who are still here on earth.

I ask you that you might listen to her fervent prayers for us.

Help me to grow into a new and deeper relationship with my mother now,

as I long for the day when we will both meet in your embrace – freed from all that

might have hindered our relationship on earth, knowing and understanding

everything we did not know or understand on this earth.

Amen.
