Kathleen Turner Obituary

Kathleen E Turner 64, beloved mother of Robert Turner, cherished wife and partner of 39 years, of Mark Turner, Blessed sister, and best friend to Elizabeth, Colleen, and Frank Ryan, was called home to heaven on November 1, 2022. Was pre-deceased by her parents, Francis X, and Elizabeth Ryan, and her in-laws Robert and Florence Turner, several cherished pets, and more house plants than you can count. Also survived by Aunts Bea Kobilca, and Mary Zalucki, and numerous other loved ones.
Much to the dismay of her husband, she was a rabid Buccaneers, Rays, and Lightning fan, and had dreamed of retiring to the Gulf Coast, to drink coffee every morning and watch the beautiful sunrises.
Kathleen loved golf, gardening, cooking and was a champion at Spider Solitaire and Candy Crush player. But most important, was her decorating. She would decorate for every holiday, and our home was always cheerful and full of love, she always made life fun and exciting. Her latest big passion was jet skiing, an entire day of our vacation was dedicated to this.
Kathleen was employed by the Albany Police Department as an Information Clerk and Matron, and everyone at South Station became one of her “kids”, whether they wanted to or not. She was incredibly proud to be a part of keeping the people of the city of Albany safe.
Kathleen voted in her first election in 1976, and hasn’t missed an election. She worked the polls every election, and was a huge advocate for voter registration.
Kathy selflessly took care of her husband after 4 serious illnesses, and she is a huge reason why I am still here writing this.
Kathy was the strongest person I have ever known, and she never saw any task too large or daunting to be tackled and conquered, and she was a rock to those who knew her.
Many thanks go out to the care team at the Albany Med CCU, Gina, Brenna, Jason, Oksana, Dominique, Shannon, Bonnie, Melissa, Jenna, you all did a fantastic job of keeping her comfortable, also thanks to Jonathon, Mike, and Margot from the Chaplain Services, and Brooks from Palliative Services, for checking on me everyday to make sure I was doing okay. Also to our primary care physician Paul Lemanski, and his office manager Danielle LaFave, for treating us like family, and not just patients.
To all the people from her extended family, the Albany Police Department who came to visit and checked on Kathy and I everyday, many thanks, as well as all the people from her other extended family, the Goldstein Auto Group who checked on us every day.
A memorial service will be held Friday November 11th from 4-7 at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home in Troy. In lieu of flowers Kathleen requests that donations be made to the Albany PAL, which does so much good work in the community.
