LuAnn (Vertone)Abbott of Troy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband and loving children and family on October 11, 2023. Born in Troy to Theodore and Rosemary (Mele) Vertone on November 22, 1944, LuAnn was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales School and Troy High School. She was employed by the Department of Real Property Tax Services of Rensselaer County until her retirement. LuAnn was an active volunteer with the Arthritis Foundation, receiving its prestigious Hoffman Award for her years of faithful service. LuAnn was also a committed and long-standing volunteer for the Breast Cancer Walk for Life.
LuAnn had a real zest for life. She loved spending time with her family, especially at the holidays and for get-togethers and celebrations. She enjoyed the company of her many friends with whom she took countless shopping adventures and trips to local and not-so-local restaurants. LuAnn cherished every minute with her loving companion, Tom. Whether visiting outlets, eating at a new place, or traveling, LuAnn and Tom always had something planned and were ready to go and explore new things.
LuAnn is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Abbott, as well as her children, Vincent (Thomas) Spadoni and Michael (Janna) Spadoni; her five grandsons, Michael Anthony (Meghan), Matthew (Maricate), Rocco, Nico, and Santino; her brothers, Theodore and Rocco (Janice) Vertone; and her niece, Regina (John) Vertone, as well as many cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy.
