Margaret Doyle Fleming, 88, was born into eternal life on March 31, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, NY on April 29,1936, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Brigid Dolan Doyle.
Margaret often shared fond memories of growing up in the close-knit neighborhood of Ontario Street where she made many lifelong friends. She was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute (1954) and Russell Sage College (1958). Upon her graduation, Margaret worked as a stenographer at the New York State Court of Appeals. She enjoyed international travel, and was able to see the world. One of the highlights of her youth was being crowned Miss Albany in 1954, as well as being a member of the Tulip Queen Court.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Michael E. Fleming, who passed away in 2022.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Erin Ann Puleo (Dr. James V.), Margaret Mary (Peggy) Fritz (Robert F.), seven beloved grandchildren: Brigid Puleo Collerd (David), Dr. James Michael (Dr. Madeline K. Cleary), and Sean Fleming Puleo; Mary Catherine, Margaret Ann, Michael Fleming, and Kevin Robert Fritz, and one great grandchild: David James Collerd, Jr.
She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews including Kathleen Veit, Sister Constance Veit, L.S.P., Karen Scotti, Eric Veit, Ann Leddy, Susan McDowell, Margaret Finlay, and their families, as well as her aunt, Mary Murphy Dolan, and by many cousins in the United States and across Ireland.
Margaret was predeceased by her twin sister, Mary Doyle Hunt (William E. Hunt) and her sister-in-law, Mary Lourdes Veit (William E. Veit) and brother-in-law, John J. Fleming.
Erin and Peggy wish to express their gratitude to the devoted team of their parents’ outstanding caregivers. As a result of the team’s love and compassion, Margaret was able to be cared for at home.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. Pius X Church at 11:00 a.m., with a private viewing prior to the ceremony. The Rite of Internment will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, N.Y. 12211.
