Mary Mahoney Grimmick, 78, of Troy, passed to eternal life on October 9, 2024. Born in Troy, on August 5, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah (Jerry) and Blanche (Laura) Mahoney of Watervliet. Mary attended Watervliet Schools and was previously employed by Montgomery Wards and St. Colman’s Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Grimmick, with whom she was united in marriage to for 50 years. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a troop leader and volunteer for many years with the Girl Scouts and also volunteered at School #12 (Pre-K) even after her children were adults. Mary was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed vacationing with her family. She is survived by her children, William (Lisa) Grimmick, of Mechanicville, Laura (Jason) Dinardo of Troy, Eva (Benjamin) Bordiuk of Loudonville, and Calexto Grimmick of Troy. She also leaves six grandchildren, Jason Dinardo, Caitlyn Dinardo, Ryan Grimmick, Ava Grimmick, Ivy Bordiuk and Owen Bordiuk; also Robby Ann, Alysa Mahoney (nieces) and Betsy Harrison, who were like daughters;
along with many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of Lawrence (Larry) Mahoney (Jean), John (Jack) Mahoney (Elaine), Thomas Mahoney, Gerald (Jerry) Mahoney (Ruth), William Mahoney, Betsy O’Dell (Theron), Darlene Stark (Walter), Ellen Mahoney, Germaine Mahoney (Willie) and Linda Mahoney. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital for their support. Services are private at the convenience of the family at Mary’s request. In lieu of flowers, Mary would like memorial donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
