Mary B. McKeon of Troy, NY passed away on May 21, 2023 after a brief illness,
with her loving family by her side.
Born in Troy, NY on February 20, 1935, she was the daughter of Frederick B. and
Lena Hoffman McKeon, and niece of her dear aunt Gertrude Hoffman. Mary
received her elementary education at St. Joseph’s School in South Troy, and was a
graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1952. She was employed by the
State of New York, Division of Worker’s Compensation, her entire career.
Mary was a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in South Troy.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; attending school activities
and athletic events of her nieces and nephews; traveling; watching college
basketball (especially Siena and March Madness); singing in the Choir at St.
Joseph’s Church; her involvement with the National Catholic Women’s Union; her
unending volunteer activities and support of many charitable organizations.
Mary is survived by nephews Jack McKeon, Dan McKeon and Bob McCune
(Sandy); nieces Mary Pat Devine (Dan), Maureen Mickel (Kevin) and Diane Mackey
(Dave); cousin David McKeon (Margie); niece Shelia McKeon (Art Kling); and many
other grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, cousins and
close relatives and friends around the country and in Ireland.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Madeline M.
McCune (Jack) and Patricia A. McKeon; her brothers George “Chops” McKeon
(Mary) and Fred McKeon (Susan); uncles Fr. George J. McKeon, Fr. Harold L.
McKeon, Hugh McKeon (Helene), Frank McKeon (Theodosia); aunts Rose McKeon,
Loretta McKeon and Gertrude Hoffman; nephew Timothy McKeon; niece Barbara
McKeon Hoover; grand niece Susan McKeon Karve; cousins George McKeon, Sr.,
Hugh McKeon (Bernie); and Helene McKeon Pelton; Mark Pelton; and many other
dear relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 1, with a Mass of Christian Burial held
at 9:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 416 Third Street, Troy, NY 12180. Burial will
follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Mann Ave, Troy.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 31, from 4-7 pm, at Wm. Leahy Funeral Home,
336 Third Street, Troy.
