Mary Jane (O’Donnell) Prescott, RN, LNC, 83, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed
into eternal rest Monday, June 3, 2024.
Born in Troy, New York on September 4, 1940, Mary Jane (MJ) was the daughter
of the late James and Mary (Rozum) O’Donnell. She graduated from Catholic
Central High School, Troy and attended St. Peter’s Nursing Hospital, Albany. Later
in life, after raising her family, she obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from
Mattatuck Community College, CT, then her RN. In her 60s, she certified as a
Legal Nurse Consultant and Paralegal from Mercy College, NY. She loved
learning: “Teach me.”
Being a Registered Nurse was a calling and she started rescuing animals from a
young age.
MJ had a great sense of humor and made people laugh with her “Polish spunk” and
thought of herself as a “tough New Yorker.”
A devout Catholic, MJ prayed so often with her rosaries, the jeweler joked she was
praying too hard as they often broke.
MJ loved gardening and music, putting the radio on every morning before coffee.
MJ, “Babki” was very proud of her children, granddaughters and godchildren. “As
a parent, my role always has and will continue to be a facilitator for your hopes,
your wishes and your dreams.”
MJ is survived by her children Ralph M. Prescott and wife Jan (Dukelow) Prescott,
Cindy A. Leary, Jo Ann (Prescott) Malvone and husband Vincent, Randy J.
Prescott; granddaughters Shannon Leary, Leah (Prescott) Lenzo; and sister
Helen-Marie (O’Donnell) McQuaid.
