Mary Phyllis “Phoof” Valenti, 86, of Troy passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 24th at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited in God’s heavenly kingdom with her beloved husband, Ralph J. Valenti, for eternity.
Mary Phyllis was born on April 9, 1940 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Bizzarro. She was a graduate of St. Anthony’s School & Catholic Central High School. As a young woman, she was employed by the New York Telephone Company and later worked at Manory’s Restaurant. Most important, she was a loving mother, grandmother & aunt who devoted her life to her family. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Mikayla, and she took immense pride in all of her accomplishments. She was a faithful servant and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Maria (Michael) Brunell and her cherished granddaughter Mikayla Brunell. She was predeceased by her sister, Beatrice Valenti (Louis) and her brother, Saverio Bizzarro (Rose). Mary Phyllis also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews & cousins. The family extends a special thank you to her caregivers, including her loving niece, Mary Lou, and those who became special friends - Maria Halloran, Yvette Macavoy & Nancy Sanders.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. Family and friends are invited to call at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Sunday from 3-6pm.
