Patricia Klein Obituary

Patricia A. Klein, 89, passed peacefully into heaven at her home, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Troy NY on July 17, 1935. She was the daughter of the late William (Pat) and Margaret Foley Hogan.

Pat was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Troy, NY. She went on to work as a bookkeeper for many local businesses with her last employment being the Town of Brunswick.

Pat’s life was her family. She truly enjoyed picking up her grandchildren after school and spending time with them while their parents worked. They loved their grandma! Pat’s passions included spending an enormous amount of time in the kitchen cooking, canning and baking. She had a unique talent for knitting, making many beautiful hats for Albany Medical Center’s newborns because she said “a child’s head should never be cold.” Her seamstress talents enabled her to create beautiful dresses for daughters as well as prom dresses and wedding dresses for family and friends.

Pat is survived by her children James Klein Jr. (Christine), John Klein (Susan), Anne Leathem (Patrick), Theresa Franke (Bryan), Patty O’Brien, Mark Klein (Barbara), David Klein (Linda), and Leslie Foster (Barry). She is predeceased by William L. Hogan, Jr., Arlene Wohleber, and Margaret Hogan. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family appreciated the help provided by Dr. Kevin Costello at Albany Medical Center, and Community Hospice (Jake, Penny and Debbie) for their kind compassionate care. The family is especially grateful to Pat’s daughter Patty O’Brien for the wonderful care she gave their Mom for the past five years with the support of her sisters and brothers, and friends as well. Pat’s family also appreciated very much the loving care Liz Nolan gave to their mother.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy, NY. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm by OLV Pastor Father Tom, whose spiritual support was most appreciated in these most difficult of times. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Victory Church or Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
