Peter V. Zayhowski

Zayhowski, Peter V. TROY Peter V. Zayhowski, 73, went home to his Heavenly Father on July 9, 2022, after a short illness, while at home. Born on February 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter G. Zayhowski Sr. and Mary A. Lumia Zayhowski. Peter was a graduate of Troy High School, Hudson Valley Community College and was honorably discharged from the United States Coast Guard in December 1969. Peter spent a few years traveling the United States prior to coming back home to his beloved South Troy. Peter had been previously employed at G.E. Silicone and retired from Rensselaer County Senior Citizen's Center in 2020, after 17 years of service. Peter was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees, loved taking long bike rides, celebrating holidays and special events at Walt and Sue's house and looked forward to his yearly summer vacations at Cramers Point Motel in Lake George. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Robert Zayhowski. Survivors include his daughter, Tanya Zayhowski Rigney; his granddaughters, Zoe and Ave Rigney, all of Loudonvile; his brother, Walter (Susan) Zaykowski of Schaghticoke; his former wife, Debra Cox of Troy; nephews and nieces, Lisa (Steven) Porter, John (Marielle) Zayhowski, Michelle Ford, Nicole Zayhowski, and Courtney (Abe) Murillo; many great-nieces and nephews and his dear neighbors and friends, Caroline, John and Mike. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial Mass on Friday, July 15, in St. Joseph's Church in Troy, at 9 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy. At Peter's request, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Church, 416 Third St., Troy, NY, 12180 or to a foundation of one's choice. Arrangements by The Wm.
