Richard “Dickie” Romano Sr., 73, of Troy, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital with his loving son by his side. Dickie retired from Ford Motor Company in 1988 and was a long-time employee and manager of the former Tom’s Furniture Store in Troy. As a member of a number of baseball and softball leagues, he was well known and loved throughout his community and will be missed dearly by many.
Dickie is survived by his son, Richard (Sherri Riccio) Romano Jr., his grandchildren, Georgia Romano, Jack Romano, and Ty Romano, his five sisters, Janet (Jack) Hems, Sue (Ron) Higgs, Barbara Goodman, Lori Mitsakas, and Carole (Tom) Hoffmeister, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Frank Sr. and Mildred Romano, daughter Kristin Romano, brother Frank Romano Jr., and his beloved family dog, Tommy.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4 – 7 pm at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, Troy. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am in the Funeral home with Deacon Charles Wojton Officiating, Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
