Ronald P. Nichols

Ronald P. Nichols Sr. 69, of Rensselaer, entered into eternal life on Thursday October 6, 2022 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Bennington, VT. he was the son of Lawrence and Elizabeth Adams Nichols, and the beloved husband of Lydia Garippa Nichols.

Ron served our country with the U.S. Army upon returning home he was employed with Star and Strand for over 22 years, Lebanon Valley Speedway for 18 years and also Philips Hardware in Waterford.

He enjoyed keeping busy and found many great moments with the people he met throughout his working career. In his spare time Ron enjoyed watching wrestling, going to Lebanon Valley for the races and especially fishing whether it be at a lake, river or ocean, but most of all he enjoyed sharing his time with family.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children; Ronald and Jennifer Nichols Jr., Susan and Donnelly Whitehead and Shawn Nichols, grandchildren; Brandon and Christopher Nichols and Donnelly and Alexandria Whitehead, siblings; Penny O'Dell and Leonard Nichols. He was predeceased by his son Scott Nichols. Also survived by his stepchildren which he loved, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends.

Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday October 17th from 10 – 12 noon at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, Troy. Funeral services will follow with Deacon Bob Sweeney officiating, Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
