Rosemary Burns, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 19 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.
Rosemary raised her five children with strength, grace, and unwavering love. She was the heart of her family, instilling in them values that will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edmund (Hop) and Maryrose Hickey, and three brothers: Peter, Daniel and Edmund (Ned). She is survived by her loving children, Colleen Burns, John Burns (Debbie), Erin Burns (Michaelle Biddle), Patricia Zelenke (Kirk), and Daniel Burns; her grandchildren, Michael Burns (Jennifer), Jillian Crane (Cory), Brandon and Abigail Burns, and Sean, Keating, and Daniel Zelenke; and her great-grandsons, Jackson Burns and Logan Crane, as well as a wide circle of friends and extended family. She cherished every moment with her seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons and treasured the many friendships she cultivated over the years.
Her faith was central to who she was. A lifelong and devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s, she gave generously of her time and spirit to her church community. She was an active member of the LAOH, as well as St. Michael’s Bereavement Committee and Women’s Guild.
Rosemary graduated from Catholic Central High School and retired from Troy Savings Bank after nearly forty years of dedicated service.
She will be remembered for her deep faith, generous spirit, and incredible strength and perseverance. Her legacy lives on in the family she raised and the countless lives she touched.
A Christian burial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Troy, NY. Calling hours for friends and family will be from 8:30 to 10:30 prior to the Mass. Final internment will be at St Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
