It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Stella Honsinger (Nizinkirck), who peacefully left this world on December 1, 2023, and joined her husband, Edward J. Honsinger, who had been waiting for her for 30 years. Stella was born on December 16, 1925, in Troy, NY, to Peter and Katherine Nizinkirck and was one of eight siblings. She was predeceased by her five sisters and two brothers.
Stella was a remarkable woman, known for her kindness, sense of humor, and intelligence. She had a passion for gardening, and anything she planted thrived. Her garden was her pride and joy, and she spent hours tending to it, especially her tomatoes. Stella was an active member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Troy, New York, her entire life, where her faith brought her joy and comfort.
Stella leaves behind her children, Jay E. Honsinger (Donna) and Carol L Oestreich (Bruce), whom she loved dearly. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Alison M. Oestreich (Carol), Mollie Honsinger (Jay), JP Honsinger (Jay), and Melissa A., Oestreich (Carol), whom she adored and watched grow into wonderful adults.
For 97 years, 11 months, and two weeks, Stella lived in North Greenbush, New York, in a home she and her husband built together. Her home reflected her warmth and love, and she took great pride in it. Stella's final wish was granted when she passed peacefully in her sleep at home after a good day, surrounded by the memories and love she had created.
Stella's legacy will live on through her family, friends, and the community she touched throughout her long and rich life. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
