Theodore Szalasny, 89, of Troy passed into eternal rest on September 23, 2025.
Theodore was born and raised in South Troy, son of Theodore and Viola (Nagiewicz)
Szalasny. He worked for Grand Union Warehouse where he was a Shop Steward. He
served as President of the Polish American Club for many years and served on Troy
City Council.
Theodore had a love of nature, animals and fishing especially on the
Tomhannock Reservoir. He was very social and loved visiting other Polish clubs where
he earned his reputation as an excellent Polish dancer. When he wasn’t at the Polish
American Club, he enjoyed trying his luck at the casinos and playing the horses. He
loved to cook for family and friends with his specialties being soups and Polish food.
He is survived by his son, Kevin, daughter-in-law, Kathryn Szalansy and
grandson Sean Szalasny all of Florida; granddaughter, Amanda Szalasny from
California; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Theodore (Teddy) and daughter Rhonda
Szalasny, his siblings Chester Szalasny, Jane Starego, Helen Ingalls, Frances Elden,
Mary Holland and Lillian Szalasny.
A celebration of life will be held on October 7, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at
Wm. Leahy Funeral home in Troy, NY.
