Thomas W. Manning ,88, passed unexpectedly Tuesday, November 25,2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born in Albany on August 28, 1937 to the late William G and Margaret Johnson Manning. He was educated in South Troy at St. Joseph’s School and La Salle Institute. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army as a dog handler at Ft. Devens. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 1450 Halfmoon NY and the Watervliet-Colonie Elks Club Watervliet NY.
A felt maker by trade for Albany Felt Co. for 28 years followed by part time jobs at South Colonie School District and the Town of Colonie.
Above all else, his greatest joy in life was his family. He was always there for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He poured his heart into every moment shared with those he loved, always showing up with a helping hand, a kind word, or a steady shoulder to lean on. Whether offering support, sharing smile, or simply being present, he touched countless lives with his quiet strength and unwavering compassion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Lamont Manning, to whom he was married for 58 years, his cherished children, Kimberly (Donald J.) Ingoldsby, William Manning, and Jeffrey (Renee) Manning. He is also proud Pop to Samantha, Lindsey, Courtney, Kiana, Madeline, Joshua, Ashley, and Kylie. Also treasured great grandchildren Xavier, Maddox, and Aria. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his adored son, Kyle Douglas Manning.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday from 10 am-12 noon at St. Joseph's Church 416 3rd Street Troy, NY.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 noon with Fr. Joseph Ngo officiating, Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy.
