After a long and determined fight for life, Yelizaveta Prokhorova (Liza), aged 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 16, 2024.
She will be remembered and dearly missed by husband, Vladimir Kononenko, daughters - Natalia, Viktoriya, and Svetlana, as well as her 5 grandchildren - Joseph, Sergey, Michael, Meera, and Maya. She is also survived by her brother, Oleksandr, and other extended family members.
The friends who knew her and family who loved her, would all agree that Liza was a kind and strong-willed person. Despite continuous obstacles in her life, she was a central force that constantly pulled the family together without fail. She always “gave us all a run for our money”, but also gave us priceless lessons, guidance, and taught us values. No matter what her situation was, she always helped others in need with all her heart.
In honor of her giving spirit, we ask that in lieu of flowers and/or gifts, please make donations to support St Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox church (Troy, NY):
