Henry E. Dennis, Jr. Architect, 79, of Loudonville, entered into eternal life on Sunday May 7, 2023 in the comfort of his home.

Born in Albany he was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude Miller Dennis.

Hank was a graduate of Colonie Central High School Class of 1961 and continued his education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and later SUNY Albany, during his academia he was involved in athletics playing both football and baseball as well as coaching baseball and teaching at Hudson Valley Community College in the architectural program. He was also president of the Kimberly Square Corp. and owned and operated several area restaurants.

Henry was a well known prominent Albany architect designing many area buildings including Kimberly Square, Newton Plaza, British American Plaza, Turf Inn, and many luxurious homes in Cobble Hill and throughout the capital district.

Henry was an Albany County Legislature for over 25 years and dedicated his time serving on many area boards including; Colonie Jaycees, Colonie and Albany Democratic Committees, O.T.B., Albany Airport Authority, Capital District Regional Planning Commission and the NYS Barge Canal Commission. He was the proud recipient of the Hall of Fame Award at Colonie Central High School.

Hank had many passions in life, one of which was travel. He along with the love of his life for over 55 years Shirley Leahy, shared in many of the same visions and became world travelers enjoying many destination on every continent except for Antarctica which they unfortunately never made it to.

Henry is survived by his devoted love; Shirley Leahy, Siblings; Timothy D. Dennis (Marcia) and Christopher K. Dennis (Ellie); cherished nieces Kimberly, Kelly (Gregg), and Krysta and his grand niece Kennedy. He is also survived by many dear friends including Paul McCoy and his furry friend Finnegan.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday from 3 – 5 pm at St. Pius X Church 23 Crumitie Rd. Loudonville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30 am in St. Pius X Church, with Fr. Jim Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
