James D. Shufelt, 88, of Troy, entered into eternal life on Tuesday June 6, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Colonie he was the son of the late James and Anna Mahar Shufelt and the loving husband of 62 years to Patricia Wisher Shufelt.
Mr. Shufelt retired in 1997 after many years of service with Williams Press and Lyadall Paper and later held a position with the City of Troy at Frear Park. Upon retiring Jim enjoyed playing golf, wintering in Florida, and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Jim was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, and New England Patriots and was a lifelong member of the Emerald Club and the CRAB Club in Troy.
In his younger years, Jim was very athletic, he played linebacker for the Troy Titans, a semi pro football league and later he along with his two sons played in a local over 30 softball league.
Jim is survived his beloved wife Pat, his children; Nickolena (Steve) Topping, James J. (JoMarie) Shufelt, Michele “Shelly” Shufelt Dinardo, (Ken Bouchard) and Patrick J. Shufelt, Grandchildren; Briann, Devin, Jay (Sara), Caitlin, Niko, Adrian, Gloria and Mackenzie. He was predeceased by his grandson Dylan Dinardo and his brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4 – 7 pm at the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 3rd St. Troy. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Troy with Fr. Joseph Ngo officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
